Excited about the week: New Programming!
I'm very grateful for the training plan I was following before but I decided to change it up! I'm gonna be following Hybrid Performance as my strength training program and Phil's Beginner Half Distance Triathlon for the tri (starting this programming next week, March 4!)
Half Distance Triathlon
I'm actually doing a Long Distance Triathlon and this triathlon plan is for a Half Distance Triathlon, which is a slightly longer distance. I think this is a good thing, it just means I'll be extra prepared for this. I'm also hoping to participate in a 70.3 race next year so if this plan goes well, I might follow the intermediate version of this next year. This one is 16 weeks long so I'm starting it on March 4! Until then, I'm take a break from running and biking.
Strength Program
I also wanted a strength program that incorporates both powerlifting as well as olympic weightlifting. This Hybrid Performance program seems like the perfect fit for what I was looking for. The description is as follows "HYBRID Performance is designed to help you become the quintessential supertotal athlete, with the elegant explosiveness of an Olympic weightlifter, the raw strength of a powerlifter, and the aesthetic physique of a bodybuilder." sounds pretty perfect right? It is comprised of 5 lifting days and I think that might be too much for what I need right now, so I'll likely only be doing 3-4 of the workouts for each week.
I'm a little afraid of overtraining so I wanna take it easy at the start and then if I feel okay, I can add in more lifting sessions.
Here's to another fun week!
